Sebestyén Péter: Limit (Limes in English)

Portre of Sebestyén Péter

Limit (English)

’I haven’t come of my own free will. I was sent. With us it’s an established tradition, though actually it’s an inevitable law. We have to appear – without exception – all mortals, in whom the synthesis of Doubt and Faith has reached the grade, which they - so to say – consider Enlightenment.
Dialectics, as a general rule, has resulted also in your case in wrong conclusions. Your opinion, according to which Darkness and Lightness are only and merely each other’s negative homologues is nothing but an analytical slapdash job. Horribile dictu: you think this latent coincidence is part of the Intention (or the Plan).
I admit: ways of the mind needn’t always be blocked – and above all not necessarily in all cases. I believe you believe me, you believe yourself and you believe Him; what’s more – with certain reservations – I believe in the freedom of your choices. However, the standard – which, as a matter of fact could as well be judged by ours – had reached its limit well before you got to the premises of which the direct consequence is that I am here now.
You also belong to the ones without whom this created world is stupid and pointless, but with whom it’s impossible to realize it properly. The responsibility is mine, so as to avoid disasters by all means, because – however wonderful human thought in its finiteness is – horizons cannot expand to the non-existent Infinity.
I feel sorrow for you, just like for the Righteous. And now, dig a hole,’ said the angel who once used to let Jacob live on.
