Das Haus hinter Bäumen und Büschen: eine alte Frau
Füttert drei Katzen, sie sagt:
Ich hatte drei Töchter, der Krieg
Nahm sie mir, sie gingen
Die Wege, die Gras überwuchs, und kamen
Nicht mehr. Mein Mann
Bei der Bahn, über die Stadt
Kamen die Bomber. Sie brachten ihn mir: seine Brust
Eine blutige Schussel, im Garten
Grub ich sein Grab, die Nachbarin
Half ihn begraben. Jetzt
Bekomme ich Rente, den Rest
Bringen die Hühner, das
Wird mir keiner
Mehr nehmen.

Ház bokrok és fák mögött: az öregasszony
három macskát etet s elmondja:
Három lányom volt, a háború
elvette tőlem, elmentek
útjukra, melyet benőtt a fű és nem jöttek
többé vissza. Férjem
a vasútnál volt, a város fölé
bombázók jöttek. Mikor visszahozták nekem:
a melle véres tál volt. A kertben
ástam sírt neki, a szomszédnőm
segített eltemetni. Most
nyugdíjat kapok, a többit
behozzák a tyúkok, azok
már senkinek sem
kellenek.
