Aligizakis, Manolis: Bremeno (Burden in Slovak)

Portre of Aligizakis, Manolis
Portre of Janík, Pavol

Back to the translator

Burden (English)

He put his bag on the floor
lied next to me
he raised one leg and
leaned it against the wall
as though to leave on it
a fleshy mark
a faint human trace
the other leg was resting
on the cool cement

suddenly as though he remembered
something very important

he got up
walked to the table
leaned down and smelt
the last bloomed rose
then he let a sigh float
in the darkened room
as though to release
burden of his last breath
and without any word
he collapsed on cool cement

Bremeno (Slovak)

Spustil tašku na podlahu
položil ju vedľa mňa
zdvihol jednu nohu a
naklonil ju proti múru
akoby chcel nechať na ňom
mäsitú značku
slabú ľudskú stopu
druhá noha ostala
na chladnom betóne

zrazu akoby si spomenul
na niečo veľmi dôležité

vystrel sa
pristúpil k stolu
sklonil sa a privoňal
k poslednej rozkvitnutej ruži
potom nechal povzdych plávať
v tmavej miestnosti
akoby uvoľnil
bremeno svojho posledného dychu
a bez akéhokoľvek slova
sa zrútil na chladný betón
