Blake, William: Epigrams from Blake's Notebook

Portre of Blake, William

Epigrams from Blake's Notebook (English)

Great things are done when Men & Mountains meet
This is not Done by jostling in the Street

               *

The Errors of a Wise Man make your Rule
Rather than the Perfections of a Fool

               *

When a Man has Married a Wife
he finds out whether
Her knees & elbows are only
glued together

              *

      An Answer to the Parson

Why of the sheep do you not learn peace?
“Because I don't want you to shear my fleece.”

               *

He has observd the Golden Rule
Till hes become the Golden Fool

               *

          To God

If you have form'd a circle to go into,
Go into it yourself, and see how you would do.

Epigrammák (Blake vázlatfüzetéből) (Hungarian)

Nagyokat tesznek emberek s hegyek:
De nem egy utcasarki csődület.

              *

Bölcs Ember tettét, még ha téves is, kövesd,
De Bolondét ne, legyen bár tökéletes.

               *

Amit az Esküvő után
a Férfi megtapaszta(l)
az az vajon Neje térgye s könyöke
csak úgy oda van-e ragasztva

              *

     Lelkipásztornak járó válasz

Tanulj a birkától: ne állj ellen, ne víjj.
„Hogyne, hogy aztán engem te meg- és kinyírj!”

       [víjj = vívj]

               *

Elved legyen az Aranyszabály
Hogy lehessél Aranyos Szamár

Alternatív fordítás:

Add másnak aranyad, ez az Aranyszabály
Hogy magad szamárnak való szalmát zabálj

               *

         Istenhez

Ha kört teremtél, belelépni jót,
Lépj be Magad, próbáld ki, jó-e ott.
