Blodgett, E. D.: Pomp

Portre of Blodgett, E. D.

Pomp (English)

as fine as early snow
the pomp of kings comes down
to settle in the hair

of women unperceived
sitting on the square
gathering birds at dusk

fly in circles through
it calling out in their
untranslatable cries

across the silence
of the slowly falling snow
a flowerpot alone

upon a window sill
replies to all the birds
exhaling emptiness

Pompa (Czech)

hebká jak první sníh
snáší se vznešenost králů
a pomalu dosedá

do vlasů nenápadných žen
sedících na náměstí
ve společnosti ptáků

kroužících za soumraku
protínaném jejich
nepřeložitelným křikem

náhle ticho sněhu
snášejícího se k zemi
přeruší v odpověď ptákům

opuštěný květník
stojící na parapetu
vzdychaje prázdnotou
