Hardy, Thomas: Sietős esküvőre (At a Hasty Wedding in Hungarian)

Portre of Hardy, Thomas
Portre of Ferencz Győző

Back to the translator

At a Hasty Wedding (English)

If hours be years the twain are blest,

For now they solace swift desire

By bonds of every bond the best,

If hours be years. The twain are blest

Do eastern stars slope never west,

Nor pallid ashes follow fire:

If hours be years the twain are blest,

For now they solace swift desire.

Sietős esküvőre (Hungarian)

Ha perc egy év: boldog a pár,

Hisz gyorsan-támadt vágyat űznek,

S a legszebb kapocs összezár,

Ha perc egy év. Boldog a pár,

Keleti csillag sose száll

Nyugatra, hamva sincs a tűznek:

Ha perc egy év, boldog a pár,

Hisz gyorsan-támadt vágyat űznek.
