Lowry, Malcolm: A panasz - 1944 június (A lament – june 1944 in Hungarian)

Portre of Lowry, Malcolm

A lament – june 1944 (English)

Our house is dead

It burned to the ground

On a morning in June

With a wind from the Sound.

The fire that fed

On our marriage bed

Left a bottle of gin.

Black under the moon

Our house is dead.

We shall build it again

But our home is gone.

And the world burns on.

A panasz - 1944 június (Hungarian)

Házunk halott

A földig égett

Június reggelén

A szoros szele végett.

A tűz szövetséget

Hitvesi-ágyunkon kötött

Maradt egy palack gin.

Sötéten a hold alatt

Házunk halott.

Fel kell építenünk újra

De ez otthonunk elmúlta.

És a világ ég tovább.
