Lowry, Malcolm: Queer Poem

Portre of Lowry, Malcolm

Queer Poem (English)

I knew a man without a heart:

Boys tore it out, they said,

And gave it to a hungry wolf

Who picked it up and fled.

And fled the boys, their master too,

All distant fled the brute,

And after it, in quaint pursuit,

The heartless man reeled on.

I met this man the other day

Walking in grotesque pride.

His heart restored, his mien gay,

The meek wolf by his side.
