Az Úr érkezése (Hungarian)

Mikor elhagytak,
Mikor a lelkem roskadozva vittem,
Csöndesen és váratlanul
Átölelt az Isten.

Nem harsonával,
Hanem jött néma, igaz öleléssel,
Nem jött szép, tüzes nappalon
De háborús éjjel.

És megvakultak
Hiú szemeim. Meghalt ifjúságom,
De őt, a fényest, nagyszerűt,
Mindörökre látom.

Arrival of the Lord (English)

When they had left me

Dragging my burdened soul, alone, dejected,

God embraced me and his touch was

Quiet, unexpected.

There was no fanfare,

He came with a quiet, true embrace, and more:

He came not in the blaze of day

But on a night of war.

And my self-seeking

Vain eyes were blinded. My youth had died in me,

But Him, the splendid, shining one,

I shall forever see.
