Beney Zsuzsa: The guest (A vendég in English)

Portre of Beney Zsuzsa

A vendég (Hungarian)

Párnámon alszik, elzavarhatatlan,
mint macska, úgy dagaszt lábaimon
minden éjjel. Már test, megfogható.
Úgy ölelem, oly kétségbeesetten

mint már nem vágyakozó szerető
kit épp a vágy hiánya, a magány
kényszerít a másikra rátapadni.
Mitől félek jobban? Hogy eltűnik

vagy attól, hogy örökösen jelen van?
Mielőtt ismertem, erdőn, mezőn
úgy jártam, úgy suhantam mint a szél,
menekültem, mint Koré, álruhában.

The guest (English)

Sleeps on my pillow, will not be chased away,
like a cat, kneads my feet
every night. A body now, is tangible.
I embrace him as desperately

as a no longer desirous lover does,
whom lack of desire, loneliness,
forces to stick to the other.
What scares me more? That he will disappear

or that he will stay forever?
Before I knew him, I walked, I glid across,
forests and meadows like the wind,
escaped, like Korah, in disguise.
