Eurydiké (Hungarian)

Lelkem, mondd, mennyi szenvedést viselsz el?

S te lelkem társa, akiért a föld
kemény kérgét taposva elmerültem,
háromszor el a mélységes homályba –
te értem mennyi szenvedést viselsz el?

A gyalázat torkából kilökötten
sivatagodnak naptalan fehér
izzó homokjából a sűrű tenger
sós-keserű árjába lemerültem

Szenvedésed elöntött, mint a tenger

És csontig mart halál és fájdalom.
A gyenge dal, fuvolád halk patakja
visszavezet? Hiszen téged sötét
halálom elborított, mint a tenger.

Visszavezetsz-e? Élve a pokol
mélyére szálltál, engem elragadni,
gyenge dal láncán engem, aki érted
éltem, haltam, és benned elmerültem

Énértem mennyi szenvedést viselsz el?

Eurydice (English)

Tell me, my soul, how much suffering do you endure?

And you, companion of my soul, for whom I sank
three times in the dimness of the depths
whilst treading the hard crust of the earth -
How much suffering do you endure for me?

Expelled from the throat of disgrace,
I went from the white sands of your waste,
which glowed without the sun, and sank into
the velvet of the bitter-salty sea tide.

Your suffering engulfed me like the sea

and bone-deep the hurt that death and pain had caused.
That tender tune, the quiet streaming of your flute,
will that lead back? For after all, my dark death
engulfed you like the sea.

Will you lead me back?  You descended
to the depths of hell, alive,
with chains of a tender tune to wrest me, me,
who lived and died for you, immersed herself in you.

How much suffering will you endure for me?
