Demény Ottó: Kaleidoscope (Kaleidoszkóp in English)

Portre of Demény Ottó

Kaleidoszkóp (Hungarian)

Mondd miként forgatod még

tükreidet előttem

az apró kövek rendje

csattogva összeáll.

- szimmetrikus kaleidoszkóp

jó kép a zűrzavarról

de ha a tükröt eltöröm

s a köveket kezemre téve

bámulom sorsom darabkáit

fényes matt égő színtelen

akkor is ez az életem

olykor piros olykor reményzöld

irigy-sárga viola-hamvas

ám mind között legszebb a kék

a tó az ég a béke tiszta

mezőivel ha tél ha nyár

magasság mélység távolok

s nyitott szemeid közelsége

Kaleidoscope (English)

Do tell me how you'll still turn

your mirrors before me

the order of the tiny stones

rattles into wholeness

-symmetric kaleidoscope

a pleasing likeness of disorder

but if I break the mirror

and put the stones on my hand

I stare at fragments of my fate

matt shiny fiery colourless

this is my life even then

sometimes red sometimes hope-green

envious yellow, bloomy violet

but blue among them is the nicest

the lake the clear fields of sky

whether summer or winter

distances heights the deep

and nearness of your wide open eyes
