Idegen sírok közt (Hungarian)

Megyek a dombon, míg elér az estve,
Valami régi, holt nevet keresve.
Áldott legyen,
Ki szeretett s most álmodik feledve.

A sírokon túl barnuló barázda,
Tavaszi álom, vén paraszt kapálja.
Áldott legyen
S legyen szegénynek boldog aratása!

S még mielőtt az estve rámrohanna,
Egy név mered rám régi hanton: Anna.
Áldott legyen!
Most cseng az esti vágy lélekharangja!

Among the graves of strangers (English)

I climb on the knoll till night is here to stay,
Look for a long-gone name along the brae,
Blessed be she
who loved and lies forgotten, dreams time away.

A field spreads past the graves, farrowed, brownish dun,
Hoed by an old man: a spring dream in the sun.
Blessed be he.
May that poor man's harvest be a happy one!

Just as the darkness comes falling all around,
I see the name "Anna" staring from a mound.
Blessed be she!
Bell of night's desire knells with eerie sound!
