Kiss Judit Ágnes: Egyirányú

Portre of Kiss Judit Ágnes

Egyirányú (Hungarian)

Nem a halál, nem a végállomás,
mi oda vezet, az lehet nehéz.
Vékony csövön, bőrbe szúrt tűkön át
cseppenként tölt el a felismerés:
az élők közé nincsen visszaút,
mint testemben a sejtek, szétrohadt,
vagy felrobbant, vagy benőtte a fű,
egyhelyben állni sem tudok sokat.

Először a színek fakulnak el,
mint mikor túl korán sötétedik,
aztán a kontúrok, végül a hang,
az érintés tart csak ki reggelig.
Ha van reggel, ha van feltámadás,
testnek, léleknek hogyha van,
talán megéri méltón menni el.
Még nem ordítok. Még tartom magam.

One-way (English)

Not death itself, not the terminal point -
the road leading there may be really hard.
Through thin tubes, needles shot into my skin I’m
imbued drop by drop with the recognition:
there’s in fact no way back to the living,
like cells in my body that path’s decayed,
or it’s blown up, or overgrown with grass,
I can’t even stay standing in one place long.

At first just colours get pale and fade out
like when the evening’s getting dark too soon,
then outlines fall apart, finally voices,
only touches can hold on till morning.
If there’s morning, if there’s resurrection
for the body, for the soul, if there is,
then it may be worth passing away with dignity.
I’m not screaming yet. I’m still holding out.
