Kormos István: Dream (Álom in English)

Portre of Kormos István

Álom (Hungarian)

Elaludt egy fűszál hegyén
éhségiben három szegény,
szemükön rét csöndje legel,
futkorásznak álmuk egén.

Kiflit rág az egyik szegény,
perecet a kisebb legény,
a harmadik előttük áll:
cipó van a feje helyén.

Dream (English)

Three nodded off, 'tis plain to see,
on a grass-tip from poverty,
still of the fields grazes their eyes
on skies of dreams they run with glee.

One is nibbling a croissant, see?
A pretzel is the small one's tea,
the third poor chap, he stands in front:
loaf of bread where his head should be.
