Ladányi Mihály: You're beautiful (Szép vagy in English)

Portre of Ladányi Mihály

Szép vagy (Hungarian)

Tűzijátékot gyújtanék neked szerelem,
káprázatos rakétákat,
hogy elbűvöljelek,
hosszú verssorokat, hogy körülöleljék tomporodat,
és égő mondatok hálóiba
fogjam melledet…
De lebiggyeszted a szád, csak akkor ragyogsz föl,
mikor tükörbe pillantasz.
Szép vagy, mint egy húsevő növény,
álmos és izgalmakra éhes;
csókom ijedt állata végigmászik karodon, nyakadon,
aztán égető nedvek emésztenek el.
Néha boldogan mesélnék fekete napjaimról,
a kövekről, amiket
a feneketlen szakadékba cipelek,
szánnivaló énekeimről,
amiket az emberek fülébe üvöltenék,
hogy felébredjenek,
az őrült órák kalapácskattogásáról,
amit egész éjszaka hallok,
míg nézem a hold lassan menetelését
a fal penészvirágai közt.
Szemem leragad reggel a villamoson,
de aztán újra rád nyílik, szerelem,
mert te vagy az én napom, tündöklő-tomporú!
Most
e kocsmában várok rád,
ahol piszkos abroszokon
kiloccsant borcseppek vöröslenek,
s a fejeket támasztó karok erdejében
riadt kutyatekintetek
csillagai közt
a világból,
mely a cigarettafüst ősködéből kifordul sisteregve,
tested forró pusztái villognak csak szemembe,
ahol, kopott csavargó,
kiszáradt torokkal kószálok és
háromnapos szakállal,
s már csak fáradt, véres szemem
néz szembe a világgal.

You're beautiful (English)

Love, I'd let off fireworks for you,
gorgeous rockets
to enchant you,
long lines of verse to embrace your bottom,
and hold your bosom
in a net of fiery words…
But you pout, you only shine
when you glance at a mirror.
You are beautiful like a flesh-eating plant,
sleepy and hungry for excitement,
the timid beast of my kiss clambers along your arms, your neck,
burning juices consume me afterwards.
Sometimes I’d gladly talk about my horror days,
about the rocks I lug
to the bottomless abyss,
about my lamentable songs,
which I would yell into people's ears
to wake them,
the hammer clatter of the frantic hours,
which I can hear all night,
whilst observing the slow march of the moon
among the mould stains on the wall.
My eyes stick together on the morning tram,
but afterwards they open onto you, love,
because you are my day, you with that gorgeous bottom!
Now
I wait in this boozer for you,
where spilled wine-drops redden
the dirty table cloth,
and, in the forest of head-holding arms,
among the stars of
startled dog faces
from the world, which sizzles and spills
from the primordial mists of cigarette smoke,
only the hot plains of your body flicker before my eyes,
where, with the parched throat of a down-at-heel bum,
I hang about,
with a three-day beard,
and only my tired, bloodshot eyes
are contacting the world.
