Petőcz András: Room with a sea-view (A tengerre néző szoba in English)

Portre of Petőcz András

A tengerre néző szoba (Hungarian)

  A teraszról messzire,
  távolra lát, aki vágyik
  távolra látni, messzire, messzire.

  Lábad előtt a part,
  a `plage`, rajta elnyúló
  testek, hívnak, hívogatnak.

  Nem térek vissza.

  Látom a napsütést,
  a partot, a tengert,
de `az` a szoba már nem az enyém.

  Nem térek vissza, sohasem.

  És `az` az ajtó, amelynek
  kulcsa már nincs a kezemben,
  a hátam mögött csöndesen becsukódik.

Room with a sea-view (English)

From the terrace, there is
a wide, a distant view for those,
who long for a wide view to the far, far away.

The shore is by your feet,
so is the beach,
on it reclining bodies, beckoning, inviting.

I'll not return.

I see the sunshine,
the shore, the sea,
but "that" room is no longer mine.

I'll not return, not ever.

And "that" door, with its key
no longer in my hand,
quietly closes behind me.
