Sunday Before Christmas (English)

Sunday Before Christmas*

PEACE, LOVE -
It’s terrible how much money is spent! I’ve just
            broken a hundred-note, and now…

CHRIST WAS BORN -
            Goddam Christmas! Though
            last year I  decided to…

GOODWILL ON EARTH -
Madam, this is the end of the queue! I, too,
am in a hurry, you think, only…

THEY WALKED UNDER THE STARS –
One size smaller… Oh, anyway, when it’s
            washed, it’ll…

IN THE MANGER SHIVERING -
Are we buying that rocking-horse right now,
           or…

VOICE FROM HIGH ABOVE -
           Call the manager! It’s simply
           outrageous what here…

THREE EARTHLY MAGI -
            I’ve told everyone straight that
            this year just money…

WORSHIP AT HIS FEET -
Is it real good quality? You see,
            any rubbish…

SAVIOUR WAS BORN -
You mean me! to you! And my corn,
           who’s trampled…

PEACE, LOVE –

*In Hungary it’s called Golden Sunday,
on this day even in „pre-supermarket” times
shops used to be open,
so that people could „prepare” for Christmas
