Chanuka van, a gyertya fellobog
És minden zsidó szív erősen feldobog.
Eszünkbe jutnak hősi képek,
Eltünedezett ősi népek.
Volt Pharao, volt görög uralom
S nem törhetett meg minket semmilyen hatalom.
Vittük a Tórát vittük velünk,
Abból merítettük minden hitünk.
És mentünk a pusztán éhezve, szomjazva,
de velünk volt Isten, nem voltunk elhagyva.
És mi, kik ilyen ősöktől származunk
Nem csüggedünk, mi tovább harcoljunk.
Hisz bíztatóan int a gyertyafény:
Ne csüggedj Izráel, van még remény!

E’ Hanukkah, si divampano i lumi,
Pulsa fortemente il cuore degli ebrei.
Abbiam’ presente i visioni eroici,
Popoli antichi per strada dispersi.
C’era Pharao, c’era il regno dei greci,
Ma nessun potere ha potuto spezzarci.
Portavamo Torah con noi in ogni luogo,
Da lei abbiam’ attinto tutto il nostro credo.
Percorrevamo la pusta, affamati e assetati,
Dio era con noi, non eravamo abbandonati.
E noi, che di tali antenati siam’ discendenti,
Continueremo a lottare, a non arrenderci.
La luce della candela ci rassicura:
Israele, non disperare, v’è ancora speranza!
