Radauskas, Henrikas: Rugsėjis

Portre of Radauskas, Henrikas

Rugsėjis (Lithuanian)

Ramaus vidudienio auksinės naginės

Per tuščią lauką brenda neskubiai.

Švelnus rugsėjis migdo mano smegenis,

Kur baigia degti vasaros drugiai.

Atsiminimai, ūžę medžių lapuose,

Nukrito žemėn: praeities nėra.

Rytoj iš ryto aušrą dengs sušlapusi

Nuskurusio lietaus skara.

September (English)

The gilded shoes of tranquil noon again

Stroll to the empty fields to roam about.

The mild September sweetly lulls my brain

Where summer butterflies will soon burn out.

The memories which once like leaves hung on

Are falling down: the past is on the wane.

Tomorrow morning will behold the dawn

Enveloped in a sodden scarf of rain.
