Biography

Born 1930 in Ménfőcsanak. Novelist, short-story writer. Completed gymnasium in Győr, and worked as lathe operator there for a time. Established literary career in 1950 with award of first prize for short story. Completed studies in dramaturgy at College of Theater and Film Arts and then became staff member of Szabad Ifjúság and Művelt Nép. Joined Budapest Filmstúdió in 1957. Has devoted energies solely to writing since 1959. Awarded Attila József Prize in 1962 for contributions to literature.
Her fiction is concerned with effects of new socialistic views on village life and with problems in raising children.
Some of her short stories have been translated into Bulgarian, Polish, and Russian.
