— Ó — mondta az egér —, a világ napról napra zsugorodik. Először olyan tágas volt még, hogy féltem, elfutottam, és boldog voltam, hogy végre jobbra-balra a távolban falakat láttam, ám e hosszú falak olyan gyorsan haladnak egymás felé, hogy ez már az utolsó szoba, és ott a sarokban a csapda, amelybe futok.

— Csak futásod irányán kell változtatnod — mondta a macska, és felfalta.
