El toro (Spanish)

Lóbrego, en la alta noche, a paso lento,
regresa un toro por la pampa umbría,
y, husmeando el mustio pajonal, confía
vagos mugidos al miedoso viento. 

Torvo, bajo el moriche* corpulento
afilando las astas, extravía,
y al fin, en la estrellada lejanía
surge como un borroso monumento. 

Absorto en las ilimites sabanas, 
mira rayar las pléyades cercanas
sobre las sienes del palmar suspenso... 

¡Después, hondo bramido de amargura, 
brusco silencio en la majada oscura, 
temblor de estrellas en el orbe inmenso!

 
*Moriche = La palma Mauritia minor del área orinóquico-amazónica.

Lassú lépésű, komor bika tér meg
mély éjben, árnyas síkon; szimatolgat
a fonnyadt szérün, s küld egy riadó, vad,
tétova bőgést a remegő szélnek.

Vaskos legyezőpálma alján lépked,
hegyezi szarvát; s eltéved; s a csillag-
beszórta messzi síkon, mint ködös nagy
emlékmű tűnik távolból elébed.

A végtelen szavannákon mereng ő,
nézi, a pálmasor fölött derengő
Fiastyúknak mint csillog rezge fénye...

Aztán: keserű bőgés; hirtelen csönd
sötét akolban; és a tág egen fönt
a csillagok szünetlen reszketése.
