Hervay Gizella: Heretics (Eretnekek in English)

Portre of Hervay Gizella

Eretnekek (Hungarian)

Az eretnekek költők lehettek vagy diákok.
Ők voltak az igazi felfedezők.
Ők a földet fedezték fel,
és egymásra mertek nézni,
mikor nézni csak az égre lehetett,
és látni csak a másvilágot volt szabad.
Ők daloltak először, ők énekeltek zsoltárt
a csókról és az emberekről,
miközben az igazhívők
égre meresztett szemmel
mormolták Isten dicsőségét
és a halál örömét.

Heretics (English)

The heretics might have been poets or students.
They were the real explorers.
They discovered the earth,
had the courage to look at each other,
when looking, allowed only toward the sky,
and seeing nothing else but the world.
They sang for the first time, they chanted psalms
about kisses, about people,
while the true believers,
gazing at the sky,
murmured the glory of God,
and the delight of death.
