There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.

Feast, and your halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.

But no man can help you die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a long and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on

Jásot tvůj každý hledá;

Naplno chtěli by sdílet tvé obliby,
ne však tvé žalosti.
Raduj se s přebytkem přátel;
smutek je vyhostí.
Poptávka jiná kol vonného vína,
než kalichu hořkosti.

Hostina plné má síně;
nouzi svět okrátí.
Uspěj a rozdej a žití se nevzdej,
však nechtěj nic od smrti.
Ve slávy síních dost místa,
ať vlečky jim vévodí,
však v úzkém pořadí každý se zařadí,
narodí, nalodí.
