Biography

Vilja-Tuulia Huotarinen (1977) Finnish poet who has also published three novels for teenagers. In her first book of poems, ’Must not run with scissors’ (2004, WSOY) you can find themes as body image of a girl and growing up in a society full of rules. Next book, ’A place where a woman stands ’ (2007, WSOY), contains poems of ancient mothers and questions about womanhood marked with accessories. Third book of poems, ’Poems of a happy cow’ (2009, WSOY) is a book full of "glamour cows" and their sorrows. Huotarinen is working as a teacher of creative writing in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku and as an editor-in-chief in a literature magazine for teenagers called LUKUfiilis. Her books have won three different literature prizes. Right now she is living in Homeenlinna.
