Atwood, Margaret: Solipsism while dying

Portre of Atwood, Margaret

Solipsism while dying (English)

the skeleton produces flesh

  enemy

  opposing, then taken

  for granted, earth harvested, used

  up, walked over

the ears produce sounds

  what I heard what I

  created. (voices

  determining, repeating

  histories, worn customs

the mouth produces words

  I said I created

  myself, and these

  frames, commas, calendars,

  that enclose me

the hands produce objects

  the world touched

  into existence: was

  this cup, this village here

  before my fingers

the eyes produce light

  the sky

leaps at me: let there be

  the sun-

  set

Or so I thought, lying in the bed

being regretted

added: What will they do now

that I, that all

depending on me disappears?

Where will be Belleville?

Kingston?

(the fields

I held between, the lake

boats

Solipsismo al morir (Spanish)

da el esqueleto carne

  que se enfrenta

  al enemigo y luego

  se olvida y es cosecha,

  tierra agotada que se pisa

los oídos dan sonidos

  lo que oía

  creaba. (voces

  determinantes, que repiten

  historias, viejas costumbres

la boca da palabras

  que decía que yo misma

  creaba, y estas

  estructuras, comas y calendarios

  que me rodean

las manos dan objetos

a los que el mundo hacía

  realidad: era

  esta taza, este pueblo

  al alcance de la mano

los ojos dan la luz

  el cielo

  me salta encima:

  hágase

  el ocaso

O, tumbada en la cama, eso pensé

mientras que me velaban

añadí: ¿Qué harán ahora

que yo, que todo lo que

dependía de mí desaparece?

¿Dónde estará Belleville?

Y Kingston.

(los campos

entre los que vivía, las barcas

del lago
