¹ malebranca: -alusión posible a dos fuentes distintas: 1˚ nombre de los demonios de la 5ª bolgia del Inferno dantesco, y 2˚ nombre del filósofo del s. XVII, Malebranche, sacerdote del Oratorio, formulador de una filosofía racionalista, unión del pensamiento de S. Agustín y del cartesianismo. Aunque por ambos lados  -Dante y Descartes-  se puede establecer una relación con Beckett, nos inclinamos por la 1ª solución, por razones fácilmente explicables con la nota siguiente.

² Malacoda y Scarmilion:  -diablos dantescos, citados en Inf. XXI, 76, y 105, respectivamente.
