Blake, William: A Légy (The Fly in Hungarian)

Portre of Blake, William
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

The Fly (English)

Little fly,
Thy summer’s play
My thoughtless hand
Has brushed away.

Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?

For I dance
And drink and sing,
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing.

If thought is life
And strength and breath,
And the want
Of thought is death,

Then am I
A happy fly,
If I live,
Or if I die.

A Légy (Hungarian)

Pici légy,
Nyár-röptödet
Hanyag kezem,
Az törte meg.

Nem vagyok-
E, mint te, légy?
Nem vagy te is
Emberi lény?

Hiszen én
Is szökdösök;
S egy vaksi kéz
Majd félrelök.

A gondolat
Tán élet az,
S ha híja van,
Meg az halaszt;

Boldog légy
Én így vagyok,
Akár élek,
Akár halok.
