Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And, when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? What the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water’d heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the Lamb make thee?

Kojom je rukom il besmrtnim okom
Sazdana tvoja strašna simetrija?

U kome dalekom nebu il dubini
Plamteše oči tvoje, slične vatri?
Na kojim se krilima usudi k visini?
Koja se ruka usudi plamen da uhvati?

Koje se rame, koja veština usudi
Da diže tvog srca splete i savije?
I kada srce tvoje počne da bije,
Čega se plaše ruke? a čega grudi?

Koji čekić? i koji lanac glasni?
U kojoj peći žarkoj mozak ti beše?
Na kome nakovanju? i koji dodir užasni
Smeo je uz grudi smrtni užas da steže?

Kad se od zvezdanih kopalja svod izbradao,
Kad poplaviše zvezde suzama nebo celo,
Da l osmehnu se tada nad svojim delom?
Onaj što stvori Jagnje, da l je i tebe sazdao?
