Blodgett, E. D.: River

Portre of Blodgett, E. D.

River (English)

what the river knows
it slowly bears away
to bury in the sea

everyone gazes on
its silent surface as
they pass beneath the trees

thieves and lovers all
who leave the histories
of lives in fire lived

but unlike stars at night
floating placid there their
coming back is not

eternal in the dark
mirror that without
distinction holds them all

before drifting from sight
ethereal upon
the air without a name

Řeka (Czech)

řeka všechno co ví
odnáší pomalu pryč
pochovat do moře

každý kdo jde po břehu
pod stromy podél řeky
hledí na tichou hladinu

zloději milenci všichni
kdo zanechávají příběhy
životů žitých v plamenech

avšak na rozdíl od hvězd
pokojně unášených nocí
se nevracejí věčně zpět

do temného zrcadla
které je v sobě všechny
bez rozdílu sevře

než odplynou z dohledu
étericky vzduchem
už docela anonymní
