Dickinson, Emily: Fame is a fickle food

Portre of Dickinson, Emily

Fame is a fickle food (English)

Fame is a fickle food
Upon a shifting plate
Whose table once a
Guest but not
The second time is set.

Whose crumbs the crows inspect
And with ironic caw
Flap past it to the
Farmer's Corn —
Men eat of it and die.

Illó ebéd a hír (Hungarian)

Illó ebéd a hír
Egyszer csak itt terem
Mozgó fogás az
Asztalon
De másodszorra nem

A varjú belenéz
Csak krákog gúnyosan
Elröppen ő ezt
Nem eszi —
Az ember belehal
