Dryden, John: Kínok után, a gyötört szeretőnek (After the pangs of a desperate Lover in Hungarian)

Portre of Dryden, John

Back to the translator

After the pangs of a desperate Lover (English)

After the pangs of a desperate Lover.

  When day and night I have sigh’d all in vain,

Ah what a Pleasure it is to discover

  In her eyes pity, who causes my pain!

When with unkindness our Love at a stand is,

  And both have punish’d our selves with the pain,

Ah what a pleasure the touch of her hand is,

  Ah what a pleasure to press it again!

When the denial comes fainter and fainter,

  And her Eyes give what her tongue does deny,

Ah what a trembling I feel when I venture,

  Ah what a Trembling does usher my joy!

When, with a Sigh, she accords me the blessing,

  And her Eyes twinkle ’twixt pleasure and pain;

Ah what a joy ’tis, beyond all Expressing,

  Ah what a joy to hear, shall we again!

Kínok után, a gyötört szeretőnek (Hungarian)

Kínok után, a gyötört szeretőnek,

sírva, epedve sok éjjelen át,

mily gyönyör újra, ha látja a nőnek

szánakozásteli szemsugarát!

És ha a szép szerelem keserű lesz,

s engem is, őt is a kín ha nyomaszt,

mily gyönyör újra elérni kezéhez,

mily gyönyör újra szorítani azt!

S végre ha gyengül a védekezésben,

s szép szeme mondja, mit ajka tagad,

mily remegés ragad el közelében,

mily remegés nyit e szívhez utat!

Sóhaja végre kitárja a mennyet,

fájdalom és gyönyör ég a szemén;

ó mily örömteli hangja fülemnek,

ó mily öröm: „Leszel újra enyém?"
