Galsworthy, John: Idő (Time in Hungarian)

Portre of Galsworthy, John

Time (English)

Beneath this vast serene of sky
Where worlds are but as mica dust,
From age to age the wind goes by;
Unnumbered summer burns the grass.
On lion rocks, at rest from strife
The aeons are but lichen rust.
Then what is man's so brittle life? –
The buzzing of the flies that pass!

Idő (Hungarian)

Ezen hatalmas derűs ég alatt
Hol a világok mint csillám pora,
Mivel korról korra a szél haladt;
Számtalan nyáron lobbant a fű tova.
A sok szikla-oroszlánon ami maradt
eónok harcából, az a zuzmó rozsdája.
Akkor mi az oly törékeny emberlét? –
Légyzümmögés, mi a választ megadja!
