Green, Stephanie: Riffek a Meadow Lanen, Edinburgh, jazzvers (Meadow Lane Riffs, Edinburgh, jazzpoem in Hungarian)

Portre of Green, Stephanie
Portre of P. T.

Back to the translator

Meadow Lane Riffs, Edinburgh, jazzpoem (English)

A punk thistle with mauve mohican
nods to its own beat and the riff of leaves,
traffic, sirens and sea-gulls.

Buccleuch Parish School is boarded up
but a rowan tree bursts out from the architrave,
berries red as STOP THE WAR on the wall.

Stevie, the janitor, his hair gelled in spikes,
leans against the door and tells me
'I write poetry too – funky rock and soul.'

The paws of invisible dogs
taking a short cut to the meadows
run for ever in concrete under the arch.

Riffek a Meadow Lanen, Edinburgh, jazzvers (Hungarian)

Egy punk bogáncs mályvaszínű mohikánnal
bólogat saját ütemében és a leveleknek riffel,
forgalom, szirének és tengeri sirályok.

a Buccleuch Parish School bedeszkázva
de egy berkenyefa felkiált a párkánygerendán,
piros bogyók mint ÁLLJ MEG HÁBORÚ a falon.

Stevie, a gondnok, a haja tüskésre zselézve,
az ajtónak dől és nekem meséli
"Írok verseket is - funky rock és soul".

A láthatatlan kutya mancsa
rövidebb utat választ a réteken
örökkön futoz, konkrétan a boltív alatt.
