Hardy, Thomas: According to the Mighty Working

Portre of Hardy, Thomas

According to the Mighty Working (English)

1

When moiling seems at cease

In the vague void of night-time,

And heaven's wide roomage stormless

Between the dusk and light-time,

And fear at last is formless,

We call the allurement Peace.

2

Peace, this hid riot, Change,

This revel of quick-cued mumming,

This never truly being,

This evermore becoming,

This spinner's wheel onfleeing

Outside perception's range.

„A roppant működés szerint” (Hungarian)

1

Ha – színre – megáll a futás

a tompa homályu éjben,

s szél sem csap az égi magasba

éj futtán, fény jövetében,

ha a félsznek tűnik alakja:

békénk – hiszed – itt e varázs.

2

Titkos zaj e béke, zubog:

ez a végszavak-árja – a csendben,

ez a lét, mely foghatatlan,

ez az újra-levés, szünetlen,

ez a rokka, mely egyre surran,

s észlelni nem tudod.
