Joyce, James: Kamarazene I (Chamber Music I in Hungarian)

Portre of Joyce, James
Portre of Gergely Ágnes

Back to the translator

Chamber Music I (English)

Strings in the earth and air
Make music sweet;
Strings by the river where
The willows meet.

There's music along the river
For Love wanders there,
Pale flowers on his mantle,
Dark leaves on his hair.

All softly playing,
With head to the music bent,
And fingers straying
Upon an instrument.

Kamarazene I (Hungarian)

Ég-alján, föld fölött

Lágy zene kél,

Víz partján, fák között

Pendül a szél.

Hol víz fele hajlik az ág,

Suhanj, Szerelem,

Köntösöd őszi virág,

Rőt lomb fejeden.

Gördül a dallam

Az álmosodó habon,

S a kéz is halkan

Siklik a húrokon.
