Livesay, Dorothy: Tűz és ész (Fire and Reason in Hungarian)

Portre of Livesay, Dorothy

Fire and Reason (English)

I cannot shut out the night –
Nor it's sharp clarity.

The many blinds we draw,
You and I,
The many fire we light
Can never quite obliterate
the irony of the stars,
the deliberate moon,
the last, unsolved finality of night.

Tűz és ész (Hungarian)

Nem zárhatom ki az éjszakát –
Sem metsző tisztaságát.

Redőnyöket eresszünk,
Te meg én,
Gyújtsunk bár tüzeket,
Mindez ki nem törölheti
A csillagok iróniáját,
Az elszánt holdat,
Feloldhatatlan véglegességét az éjnek.
