Melville, Herman: Fragments of a Lost Gnostic Poem Of The Twelfth Century

Portre of Melville, Herman

Fragments of a Lost Gnostic Poem Of The Twelfth Century (English)

Found a family, build a state,
The pledged event is still the same:
Matter in end will never abate
His ancient brutal claim.

*

Indolence is heaven’s ally here,
And energy the child of hell:
The Good Man pouring from his pitcher clear
But brims the poisoned well.

Egy elveszett XII századi gnosztikus költemény töredékei (Hungarian)

Alkoss családot, államot,
Ez s az mind-egy merény:
Le nem győzöd az anyagot,
Él – durva, ős igény.

*

A tétlenség menny-szövetsége bárhol,
Az őserő a pokol gyermeke.
A Jó Ember tölt tiszta korsajából,
A méreg forrása mindig tele.
