The Ostrich
The ostrich roams the great Sahara.
Its mouth is wide, its neck is narra.
It has such long and lofty legs,
I'm glad it sits to lay its eggs.
The Chipmunk
My friends all know that I am shy,
But the chipmunk is twice and shy and I.
He moves with flickering indecision
Like stripes across the television.
He's like the shadow of a cloud,
Or Emily Dickinson read aloud.
The Rhinoceros
The rhino is a homely beast,
For human eyes he's not a feast.
Farwell, farewell, you old rhinoceros,
I'll stare at something less prepoceros.

A strucc
A hazája Ausztrália.
Akit lenyel, halál fia.
A lába rőfnyi, csőre vad,
Jó, hogy most épp költ ő is, nem szalad.
A vakondok(ok)
Mindenki tudja, hogy ijedős vagy(ok).
Hát még a vakondok, kivált ha vak(ok).
Cikáz(nak) remegve, határozottan
Úgy, mint egy rossz televí-vizióban,
Mint fellegek árnyai szertezavarva,
Mint Emily Dickinson verse szavalva.
Az orrszarvú
Az orrszarvú orr-mótlan állat,
Nem jár neki semmi csodálat.
Itthagyunk, öreg rinocérosz.
Rinocérosznak lenni tiszta córesz.
