Nash, Ogden: Állati versek - 3. (Bestial poems - 3. in Hungarian)

Portre of Nash, Ogden

Bestial poems - 3. (English)

The Praying Mantis

From whence arrived the praying mantis?
From outer space, or lost Atlantis?
glimpse the grin, green metal mug
at masks the pseudo-saintly bug,
Orthopterous, also carnivorous,
And faintly whisper, Lord deliver us.

The Cow

The cow is of the bovine ilk;
One end is moo, the other, milk.

The Porcupine

Any hound a porcupine nudges
Can't be blamed for harboring grudges.
I know one hound that laughed all winter
At a porcupine that sat on a splinter.

Állati versek - 3. (Hungarian)

A tehén

A tehén az egy nyúlós marha, mely-
Nek egyik vége bőg, a másik vége tej.

A tarajos sül
