Nash, Ogden: Állati versek - 4. (Bestial poems - 4. in Hungarian)

Portre of Nash, Ogden

Bestial poems - 4. (English)

The Dog

The truth I do not stretch or shove
When I state that the dog is full of love.
I've also found, by actual test,
A wet dog is the lovingest.

The Cuckoo

Cuckoos lead Bohemian lives,
They fail as husbands and as wives,
Therefore they cynically disparage
Everybody else's marriage.

The Wasp

The wasp and all his numerous family
I look upon as a major calamity.
He throws open his nest with prodigality,
But I distrust his waspitality.

Állati versek - 4. (Hungarian)

A kutya

Nem túlzás, hogy folyton nevet az eb,
Teremtmény nincsen nála kedvesebb.
És akkor nevet a legjobban a kutya,
Ha fa, ha fakutya, mint ahogy fa a fagyufa.

A Kakukk

A kakukk oly jött-ment sehonnai,
Hogy azt már el sem lehet mondani.
Épp ezért cinikusan megtagad
Más tűzhelyeket, házasságokat.

Méhecskék, darazsak

Gyanítom, hogy a szorgos méh- s darázshad,
Nem mézeskalácsnak lett teremtve, csak kib..ásnak.
Csípésüknek olyan hatása van, mint a parázsnak,.
Engem nem nyűgöz le ilyen égő varázslat.

Szövegváltozat:

Énszerintem a méhek, darazsak
Egy frászt bájosak és takarosak.
Csípéseik a bőrödön akár a parazsak.
Engem nem nyűgöznek le ilyen varazsak.
