Nash, Ogden: Állati versek - 6. (Bestial poems - 6. in Hungarian)

Portre of Nash, Ogden

Bestial poems - 6. (English)

The Camel

The camel has a single hump;
The dromedary , two;
Or else the other way around.
I'm never sure. Are you?

The Germ

A mighty creature is the germ,
Though smaller than the pachyderm.
His customary dwelling place
Is deep within the human race.
His childish pride he often pleases
By giving people strange diseases.
Do you, my poppet, feel infirm?
You probably contain a germ.

The Fly

God in his wisdom made the fly
And then forgot to tell us why.

Állati versek - 6. (Hungarian)

A púposteve

A teve egypúpú, tehát kétpúptalan.
A kétpúpú a dromedár.
De fene tudja, lehet, hogy fordítva van.
Nem tudja Ön se, ugyebár?

Vírusok, bacilusok

Nagy úr a vírus meg a bacilus,
Bár kisebbek, mint egy krokodilus.
Mindkettőnek kedvenc lakóhelye
Az ember bele, tüdeje, feje.
De gyermetegek, arra büszkék,
Hogy kenyéradó gazdájuk egészségét elűzték.
Kutyául érzed magadat, anyus?
Biztos belédmászott egy bacilus.

A légy

Bölcsességében Isten megteremté a legyet,
De elfelejté közölni, hogy azzal én mire megyek.
