Poe, Edgar Allan: Álom az álomban (A Dream Within a Dream in Hungarian)

Portre of Poe, Edgar Allan

A Dream Within a Dream (English)

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?

Álom az álomban (Hungarian)

Vedd még e csókot, édesem!
Mostan megyek, elbúcsuzom
és ez legyen a búcsúszóm:
igazat mondtál énnekem,
bús álom az én életem:
eltűnt reményem csillaga,
mindegy, nappal vagy éjszaka,
való volt-e, vagy látomány,
ma már mi sem maradt nyomán.
Minden, mi van e bús világon,
álomba ködlő furcsa álom.

Állok viharzó part előtt,
a tengerár lihegve bőg.
kezemben emlékek, romok,
arany fövény, arany homok. -
Nézem, hogy hullanak ezek
a könnyű, semmi porszemek
és könnyezek ─ és könnyezek!
Ó Istenem! bárhogy fogom,
a porba hull lágy homlokom?
Ó Istenem! nem menekül
egy szem se a vizek elül?
Hát minden-minden e világon
álomba ködlő furcsa álom?
