Rossetti, Christina Georgina: Halotti dal (When I am dead in Hungarian)

Portre of Rossetti, Christina Georgina
Portre of Naschitz Frigyes

Back to the translator

When I am dead (English)

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain;
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Halotti dal (Hungarian)

Ne zengj, kedves, ha meghalok

halotti éneket -

friss fű nő majd a síromon

ciprusok helyett.

Borongó fényben alszom én

az alkony betemet.

Ha jól esik emlékezz - vagy

felejts el engemet.

Nem érzem eső-szél ízét

szemem napot se lát

nem hallom pacsirtamadár

panaszos dallamát.

Álmomból nem kelt senkisem

síromon csend lebeg.

Talán - emlékezem terád

Talán - : elfelejtelek.
