Russell, Æ George William: Vidámság (Frolic in Hungarian)

Portre of Russell, Æ George William

Frolic (English)

The children were shouting together

And racing along the sands,

A glimmer of dancing shadows,

A dovelike flutter of hands.

The stars were shouting in heaven,

The sun was chasing the moon:

The game was the same as the children's,

They danced to the self-same tune.

The whole of the world was merry,

One joy from the vale to the height,

Where the blue woods of twilight encircled

The lovely lawns of the light.

Vidámság (Hungarian)

Futott kiabálva a parton

egy csapatnyi játszi gyerek

s árnyak libbentek a táncba,

galambszárny-röptű kezek.

A csillagok is kiabáltak

s kergette a holdat a nap:

ugyanegy játék folyt fent s lent,

a tánc egy ütemre haladt.

A világ csupa kósza vidámság,

súgták a mezők s a hegyek,

s kékárnyú fák kerítették

a boldog fényszigetet.
