Shakespeare, William: CXLVII. Szonett (CXLVII. Sonnet in Hungarian)

Portre of Shakespeare, William

CXLVII. Sonnet (English)

My love is as a fever longing still,
For that which longer nurseth the disease;
Feeding on that which dost preserve the ill,
The uncertain sickly appetite to please.

My reason, the physician to my love,
Angry that his prescriptions are not kept,
Hath left me, and I desperate now approve
Desire is death, which physic did except.

Past cure I am, now Reason is past care,
And frantic-mad with evermore unrest;
My thoughts and my discourse as madman's are,
At random from the truth vainly expressed;

   For I have sworn thee fair, and thought thee bright,
   Who art as black as hell, as dark as night.

CXLVII. Szonett (Hungarian)

Szerelmem, mint a láz, vágyódik még
Azért mi tovább dajkálja a kínt;
Táplálva azzal mi adja a vészt,
Csalfa, beteg vágyat a kéjre, míg

A gondolat, szerelmem orvosa,
Dühösen, mert nem kell a gyógyszere,
Elhagy és vissza nem jön már soha.
A vágy - halál s nincs ír ellene,

Minden kúrán túl, az ész elhagyott,
Dühöngő őrültként tombol a láz;
Szó és gondolat csak torz, elnagyolt,
S csak valótlan dolgokról magyaráz;

   Esküdtem hogy szép vagy, véltem hogy fény,
   Te fekete pokol, sötét, mint éj.
