Teasdale, Sara: Az észrevétlen (The Unseen in Hungarian)

Portre of Teasdale, Sara
Portre of Tímár György

Back to the translator

The Unseen (English)

Death went up the hall
 Unseen by every one,
Trailing twilight robes
Past the nurse and the nun.

He paused at every door
 And listened to the breath
Of those who did not know
How near they were to Death.

Death went up the hall
 Unseen by nurse and nun;
He passed by many a door –
 But he entered one.

Az észrevétlen (Hungarian)

A Halál fölosont,
  Nem látta senki sem.
Nővérkék közt, talpig homály,
  Ment az emeleten.

Az ajtóknál megállt
  És fülelte: a sok
Beteg, nem sejtve, mily
  Közel jár, hogy szuszog.

Ment - nővérkék közül
  Nem látta senki sem.
Sok ajtó mellett elsuhant –
  S bement az egyiken.
