Wolfe, Humbert: A rigó (The Blackbird in Hungarian)

Portre of Wolfe, Humbert
Portre of Kosztolányi Dezső

Back to the translator

The Blackbird (English)

In the far corner.

Closed by the swings

Every morning

A blackbird sings.

His bill's so yellow

his coat's so black,

that he makes a fellow

whistle back.

Ann, my daughter,

thinks that he

sings for us two

especially.

A rigó (Hungarian)

A labdatereknél

a sűrűből

reggel, ha megyünk, egy

rigó fütyöl.

Csőrét s a kabátját

úgy illegeti,

hogy visszafütyülnöm

illik neki.

Annuska, a lányom

egyet se szól.

Ő azt hiszi, hogy csak

nekünk dalol.
