Yeats, William Butler: Az ember négy életkora (The Four Ages of Man in Hungarian)

Portre of Yeats, William Butler
Portre of Tellér Gyula

Back to the translator

The Four Ages of Man (English)

He with body waged a fight,

But body won; it walks upright.

Then he struggled with the heart;

Innocence and peace depart.

Then he struggled with the mind;

His proud heart he left behind.

Now his wars on God begin;

At stroke of midnight God shall win.

Az ember négy életkora (Hungarian)

Előbb testével kezd csatát;

teste győz s vígan lép tovább.

Aztán a szívének rohan;

s csönd, ártatlanság odavan.

Majd esze ellenére vív;

messze marad a büszke szív.

Istenre támad legutóbb.

Éjfélkor Isten győzni fog.
